If you have never ridden before, or are new to Foxlair West, we suggest you start with an introductory lesson. We offer these by request to fit your schedule, just contact us to set up a time that's convenient for you. Our lessons are broken down into 5 levels that the students progress through. For a description of these levels, click here. If you are ready to get started, then give us a call at 203/858-4968!!
Our lesson programs are sold in packages of 4, 8 or 12 lessons. Generally based on students riding 1, 2 or 3 times per week. Students riding more often than that would switch over to our Training program. While there is a cost savings in each successively larger package, please only select what you will use within a 60 day timeframe as all packages expire after 60 days from date of purchase.
A lesson in each package is defined as either a private or group lesson, whichever is more appropriate for the rider. We cater to the needs of the rider, which may vary. Generally, all beginners start with private/semi-private lessons until they have a firm control of the horse/pony. They may then move to a small group. Our "group" lessons usually have only 2-3 riders at a time, and never more than 6. We feel that this provides more individual attention leading to more confidence and growth in the student and their abilities. There is no cost difference between private or group lessons, private lessons are shorter (approx. 30 minutes) while group lessons are 45 - 60 minutes. As students become more capable of grooming and tacking their horse on their own, they will be able to maximize their actual riding time.
